Delivery and returns

We ship New Zealand-wide. Rates and dispatch days are set from a real courier account before the shop opens, and they will be published here, in full, rather than discovered at checkout. Your Consumer Guarantees Act rights apply whatever this page says.

What will delivery cost?

We haven't set a rate yet, and we won't publish a number we can't honour. The rate, the free-delivery threshold and the rural surcharge all come out of a courier or NZ Post business account, and they appear here the day that account exists.

For reference, New Zealand candle makers publish free-delivery thresholds ranging from $40 to $125 on the pages we checked on 15 September 2026. Ours will sit inside that range, and you'll see it on every product page and in the bag before you pay, not after.

Rural delivery

Rural addresses cost couriers more and take an extra day or so. Stripe's checkout can't detect a rural address, so "Rural delivery (RD) address" is a shipping option you select yourself. If you pick the urban rate for a rural address, we'll email you rather than silently cancel the order.

When will it be dispatched?

We hold stock and pack every order ourselves, on set pack-out days, and those days will be printed on this page and on the checkout button. We won't give you a delivery date: that's the courier's to promise, not ours. You get tracking by email when your parcel goes.

For a gift with a deadline, there's a "anything we should know about timing?" box in the bag. We'll do our best with it and tell you if we can't.

What if it arrives broken?

Send us a photo within 7 days and tell us whether you'd rather have a replacement or a refund. You won't be asked to post broken glass back to us.

Changed your mind?

Unused, unopened and within 14 days of delivery: post it back and we'll refund the candle, though not the original delivery, and you pay the return postage. A burned candle can't be resold, so it can only come back if something is actually wrong with it.

Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act

None of the above cuts down what the law gives you. If a candle is faulty, unsafe or not what we described, the Consumer Guarantees Act entitles you to a repair, a replacement or a refund, and you can ask us for that whether or not 14 days have passed. Consumer Protection sets out those rights in plain language, and we won't argue with them.

The candle club

Delivery is included in the club price, because Stripe only supports shipping rates on one-off payments, not subscriptions. You can cancel from the portal link in every email; it takes effect at the end of the month you've paid for, and a box that has already been dispatched isn't refunded.

Where do returns go?

Post returns to PO Box 12-345, Grey Lynn, Auckland 1021, and email us first so we know to expect it.

Frequently asked questions

How much is delivery?

We haven't set rates yet, because we don't have a courier account yet. Rates, the free-delivery threshold and the rural surcharge are published on this page before the first order can be placed, and they come from a real account rather than a guess.

Do you deliver to rural addresses?

Yes, with a surcharge, and it's a choice you make at checkout. Stripe can't tell a rural address from an urban one, so the rural option is labelled "Rural delivery (RD) address" and it's on you to pick it if that's you.

What if it arrives broken?

Email us a photo within 7 days and we'll replace it or refund it, your choice. Glass in the post breaks sometimes, and that's our cost to carry, not yours.

Can I return a candle I've changed my mind about?

Unused and unopened, within 14 days, and you pay the return postage. A candle that's been burned can't come back unless it's faulty — but if it is faulty, the Consumer Guarantees Act applies no matter how burned it is.

It was a gift. Who gets the refund?

The person who paid. We refund to the card that was charged, never to the recipient, and we won't tell the recipient what it cost.
